Go!Durban Cycling Academy and the Transformative Urban Mobility Initiative (TUMI) are
leading a #DurbanBikeShare pilot programme to encourage and promote the culture of commuter cycling in the city of Durban positioning bicycles as a preferred mode of transport. The pilot project will run from April 2023 to October 2023 creating an active mobility culture. Participants' feedback will contribute towards the eThekwini Transport Authority's plans of identifying cycling priority routes, the development of cycling infrastructure, and key improvement areas for the safety of cyclists.
As part of the programme participants are required to attend the following training sessions
1. Learn2Cycle class (Depending on riding ability)
2. Safe cycling
3. Basic Mechanics class
Each participant once approved to be part of the pilot will receive;
1. City-owned Bicycle to use for the duration of the pilot
2. City-owned helmet to use for the duration of the pilot
