Dante Workshop by Audinate

Audio Over IP in a busy multi-facility complex: Challenges and solutions as networks evolve.

Prolight + Sound Middle East Dante

Audio over IP has facilitated scaling of high-quality content sharing networks with both unprecedented facility, and similarly low cost infrastructure investment. Connections that are at best “very difficult to achieve” in Analog, are commonplace, and have no greater cost than the simplest connection, when the distribution of content is moved to a network base.

Alongside this facility is the ability to attach hundreds, if not thousands of devices, and channels to a common network infrastructure. As was found with the first data networks, as these systems scale up, concerns of management, access, and “sharing nicely” come to the fore. In this training, we will concentrate upon how the great cost-savings and flexibility of an audio over IP network distribution system, can be managed. We will consider proven IT management principles. However we will also consider how we work with a sensitivity in integration, that is fit for the purpose of a dynamic and creative studio infrastructure.

Kieran Walsh

Director of Application Engineering (EMEA), Audinate

Kieran has enjoyed a varied career in Audio engineering, currently, the role at Audinate sees him giving support and training to manufacturers of a wide range of AV equipment. Prior to Joining Audinate, Kieran was Head of Digital and RF at Britannia Row Productions. Apart from the work most associated with Britannia Row, being live concert sound production, Britannia Row has a healthy interest in "special projects". These projects included many broadcast events where equipment and skills would be leased to a facilities house. Kieran was heavily involved in integrating equipment from various departments and disciplines to create a functioning system. Kieran attributes his interest in the integration of different disciplines to his background and training as a classical musician and producer/engineer of classical and Jazz recordings, which have been carried as radio programs and incidental music for feature films.
